Living in Dangerous Times
We are living in dangerous times. It has been over 300 days since the civilian population of Israel was savagely attacked and the war still rages on. For some the shock has warn off. Others have never returned to their homes in the south. Many residents of northern Israel have been evacuated for months. Antisemitism and hatred of Jews worldwide has risen to new heights. And the saddest part is that many Jews in Israel and in USA try to stay united but divisions are fracturing this fragile unity. In the past similar conditions brought great calamities upon us.
When faced with grave danger, Esther said, “how can I endure to see the calamity which will befall my people, and how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?” (Est 8:6) We can choose to be passive or act like Esther. Please continue to pray fervently for Israel and the broader Jewish community’s safety and perseverance amidst very unsettling times. Iran has enough resources to cause a lot of damage. We are approaching Tisha B’Av (9th of Av) and historically this day has been a terrible day on Israel’s calendar. If you would like to know why, feel free to watch this teaching.
Tikvat David is committed to continued aid to Israel. This year we concentrate on those who are now carrying the scars of war, wounded soldiers, family members who lost fathers, mothers and children in this war. If you want to continue being a blessing to Israel together with us, donate using the button below and state the purpose of your donation (Israel) and will add your donation to ours.
Blessings, Rabbi Peter
