Meal of Messiah Anyone?
In our community, many like to celebrate the last night of Passover with The Meal of Messiah (Seudat Mashiach). It’s a relatively new tradition, primarily associated with Hassidic Judaism. It is less than two hundred years old, and as far as Jewish traditions go, that is new. The meal is like a Seder, but it specifically looks at the days of the Messianic redemption promised by the Prophets.
In 2025, we are hosting this event at the Synagogue on April 20, 12:00-2:00 p.m.
The Meal of Messiah is a lot less formal that a Seder (potluck style), but is deeply spiritual. If you want to participate, consider bringing fish (grilled, baked, or broiled). Dairy is welcome. Vegetables and fruit are welcome. But no hametz! (no flower, rice, grain, or bread products still). The meal falls within the week of unleavened bread (Ex 12:18-20). If you’re not much of a cook or can’t contribute a dish, we understand; monetary donations are always welcome to help us offset the expenses of communal events.
