2026 Fall Holidays
In many religions, certain places hold special significance and are considered holy. In Judaism, time is also considered holy. Our sacred times and holidays are precisely fixed to align with their past occurrences, meaning they occur at specific times, even if it is in the middle of the week. This year, Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) begins on Friday (at sunset on September 11). It falls over Shabbat, but we do not blow the shofar on Shabbat, so to hear those blasts we wait for Sunday. And Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) starts on Sunday night (at sunset on September 20), and we observe a communal fast all of Monday. Maybe inconvenient, but what God appoints cannot be expected to fit neatly into the schedules we have set up for ourselves.
Then Adonai spoke to Moses saying: “Speak to Bnei-Yisrael, and tell them: These are the appointed moadim of Adonai, which you are to proclaim to be holy convocations (Lev 23:1-2 TLV)

- Sunday Evening, Sept 20, 2026 – Erev Yom Kippur – 7:00 pm Kol Nidrei
- Monday Morning Sept 21, 2026 – Yom Kippur Day – 9:45 am – 8:15 pm
ATTENTION: This year, our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services will be held not at our usual location but at the Museum of Technology and Art (5000 Commerce Parkway, Roswell, GA 30076)
- Saturday Morning, Sept 26 2026 – Sukkot I – 9:30 Shacharit / 11:00 am Torah Service
- Sunday Afternoon, Sept 27, 2026 – Suktoberfest @ 5:00 pm – 10pm (dinner and outdoor fall fun in the Sukkah)
- Saturday Evening, Oct 3, 2026 – Simchat Torah @ 7:00 pm – Re-rolling the Torah Scroll
